Japanese desserts, and the art that goes into making them, are topics I can write endlessly on. Traditional Japanese desserts, otherwise known as wagashi (和菓子). No trip to Japan can be counted complete if you’ve not tasted wagashi. But then again, it’ll be hard to have a dessert that isn’t one! In this article, I’ll be introducing 3 baked desserts you can find in Japan that aren’t strictly wagashi, but are more of a Japanese-Western fusion.

If you ask around, people would probably lament that the cost of living in Tokyo is high. This boils down to the question - with a limited budget, is enjoying Tokyo ever possible? One of my greatest joys when travelling is to indulge in good food. If your budget is not catered towards the high-end restaurants, is it still possible to enjoy a good meal in Tokyo?

From Mita station, within a two-minute walk, you are sure to come across a gate leading into a narrow road lined with a variety of small shops and restaurants. This road is a part of an area called Keiō naka Dōri. It is a dining area filled with many places to eat, relax and have a few drinks.

When you speak about Japanese culture (at least in Europe) you can usually categorize two different kinds of people. On one hand, the one more into traditional culture (ikebana, calligraphy, taiko), on the other hand, the one more interested in Japanese pop culture (mangas, music, games).
