Horie. This area combines boutique fashion of areas and intimate coffee shops without the bustle of areas such as Umeda and nearby Shinsaibashi. This area is also home to bicycle stores, furniture shops and second hand clothing stores.

The famous coffee chain Starbucks was found in 1971. As of June 2015, the company has 22,519 shops around the world. 1165 of those shops are in Japan (data from December 2015). Starbucks arrived to Japan in 1995, but has already gained a great amount of popularity due to Japanese people's obsession with the magic bean drink. People call it shortly スタバ (sutaba) and make it the country’s largest coffee chain, due to the combination of energizing coffee, variety, and excellent market skills.

Japan is an East Asian country that has their unique tradition and lifestyle. Coming to Japan from a Western country might make you think you will not see a lot of western influence here. If you love classical music and used to watch performances back home, worry not. In Sapporo you can enjoy watching live classic music regularly being held in Sapporo “Kitara” Concert Hall. It is located in the Chuo ward area of Sapporo, in the famous Nakajima Park.

I met my first stray cat when I went jogging in Japan. There are many domestic cats walking around (so far I have never seen a stray dog here), but strays always look different and give me different looks. That skinny cat I met had white fur, with lots of dirty stains and even some blood ones. Luckily, I could see him/her again when I went to the same spot again.

The concept of the hookah lounge has been ubiquitous in the Middle Eastern world, it has only spread recently to other areas of the globe. Wisps of smoke rise up through the air, enveloping the room in a cloudy fog. The dim, colored lights illuminate the smoke, giving it shades of blue or red. Welcome to a hookah bar!

after trying out a number of pancake houses here in Tokyo, I’ve been amazed at the contrasting difference ways of making one pancake from the other. Each pancake house coming up with their own kind. I’m definitely in love with the pancakes here in Tokyo!

Of all the things one might reasonably expect to find in downtown Utsunomiya, urban heart of Tochigi Prefecture, an old world style cafe dedicated to all things Beatles has to be far down the list.

With a tagline like, fresh roasted coffee and worldwide finds, you might be fooled into thinking that it is a waste of time to stop by this store on a trip to Japan. With pockets of products from all regions in Japan, it is one of my favourite shops to browse, and dare I say, dig through. Kaldi Coffee Farm is here for you!

After the crowd in Central Kyoto, the wide and sprawling space and parks in Nara is such a welcome break. You can almost feel you are one with nature, especially since deer are roaming freely around. One such place is the Kasugayama Primeval Forest and the Garden of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. A World Heritage Site and considered a sacred forest. But then as you walk further down the road, this warm and cozy-looking café is right there by the roadside. Welcome to the Kasuga Ninai Jaya!
