The Miura Hills offer many great hiking trails which offer access to mountain summits that boast beautiful views of Tokyo & Sagami Bay, Mount Fuji, and the sprawling farm fields of southern Miura Peninsula.

Visiting Joga Island, which is located at the southern-most tip of Miura Peninsula, is an experience you will not soon forget. The island is a medley of the new, old, man-made, and natural - all compressed into one small, yet character-filled, island.

Within the city limits of Zushi, located mid-way down the Miura Peninsula, is an undeveloped nature preserve with a large network of trails and dirt roads. The area is called Futagoyama Mountains Nature Preserve.

While the urban sprawl of Tokyo is spectacular, sometimes you need a break from the chaos, crowds, and noise. While there are vestiges of nature to be found within Tokyo, for a true wilderness experience you will need to get out of the city.
