Although Sano city might not have a lot to offer in terms of excitement like Tokyo or culture like Nikko, there are still some great events here that manage to bring people together from all over the Kanto area.

Zushi is a beach town in Kanagawa prefecture, only 30 minutes by train from Tokyo and reachable by Keikyu line (get off at Shin-Zushi) or JR Yokosuka line from Shinagawa. Both lines stop in Yokohama station as well, so really it is super easy to go to.

Big festivals in Kyoto such as Aoi Matsuri and Jidai Matsuri exemplify the status of the horse throughout the ages, however Kyoto also honors its equestrian past with events that focus solely on the horse and its historic and spiritual usage.
