Special Spring Campaign for Overseas Tourists - "Tokyo Grand Shopping Week"

The 3rd “Tokyo Grand Shopping Week”, a campaign targeting foreigners for this spring was launched on January 22nd to be continued until February 24th. This campaign is implemented by Harajuku Omotesando Keyaki-kai and Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau with support from the Visa Worldwide Japan Co. Ltd.

In line with this 3rd year campaign, we are making some improvements by aiming to improve hospitality to foreign tourists and to lure them to attractions around Harajuku and Omotesando area so that they can enjoy shopping even more. Scratch & Win Campaign, for example, is offered at 200 shops including KiddyLand, Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku and La Foret Harajuku. Customers can get scratch cards at those shops and 1000 winners get 1,000 yen gift cards totalling worth a million yen. Customers can also enjoy discounts or special offers from participating shops as well as selected Japanese brand items that are popular among foreign visitors.



According to the recent questionnaire survey conducted by the Japan Tourism Agency, credit card related matters and free wireless LAN environment were within the top 5 things that hassled the tourists on a trip to Japan. Based on this result, Keyaki-kai has decided to introduce a sticker with a TAX free symbol of Japan Tourism Agency and credit card acceptance symbols at shops in the area.  “Omotesando Free Wi-Fi” has recently been launched with ease of accessibility by everyone during the campaign period. The special website displayed on the Wi-Fi connection screen contains the information of all the participating shops to encourage visitors to walk and shop around Harajuku and Omotesando area.
