Harajuku Visitor’s Center: Moshi Moshi Box

George Sampson

Located in the heart of Harajuku you will find a brightly colored building that has a large Harajuku inspired clock. This building your passport to Harajuku, and all things kawaii. The Moshi Moshi Box serves as a visitor’s center to one of Tokyo’s most well known areas, Harajuku. Started in December 2014, the Moshi Moshi Box was created by Moshi Moshi Nippon to assist tourists traveling in Japan. The Moshi Moshi box is more than just an information center, and is a great place for visitors to stop when they’re in Harajuku.

Information and Travel

The staff at the Moshi Moshi Box is friendly and bilingual. When I visited the center they were eager to help me find my way around Harajuku and make suggestions on shopping and restaurants. They also have free maps that include the surrounding areas, like Shibuya, Daikanyama, and Ebisu. Maps are available in English, Chinese, and Japanese. There are also staff from JTB travel agency who will be able to help you book any tour bookings in Japan and overseas.

Free W-Fi, Phone Charging, and Computer Use

The Moshi Moshi Box is a great place to update your Facebook and other social media accounts because they offer free Wi-Fi. If your phone is about to die and you don’t have your charger, they’ve got that too. They even have computers that you can use for free.

Gift Shop

The gift shop has a variety of great items for yourself or something you might want to give to someone special back home. There is a varitey of gifts you can purchase including the latest kawaii items that represent Harajuku and Japanese pop culture.

Shipping Services

If you find yourself with a packed suitcase but can’t stop shopping, the Moshi Moshi Box also has a FedEx desk that provides quick international shipping. You can ship to anywhere in the world here!

Crepe Shop

One of the most popular things to do in Harajuku is to have a crepe from one of the many crepe shops lining the streets. The Moshi Moshi Box even has a crepe store! Recently the store started carrying crepes from the popular “Haikyu!!” anime series.

Special Exhibits and Free Karaoke

The Moshi Moshi Box offers visitors a free chance to sing karaoke in a special room devoted to the popular activity. On the second floor of the Moshi Moshi Box is a special gallery that showcases artists from the area. Please check the Moshi Moshi Box website for gallery information. Link is located at the end of the article.

The Moshi Moshi Box also provides special tours of Harajuku from time-to-time. From March 16th-20th 2015 visitors can take a Harajuku Fashion Guide Tour given by kawaii models. Those who are interested should visit the Moshi Moshi Box website to see what events are available during their travel. Link to the website is at the end of the article.

Other Services

Recently, the Moshi Moshi Box started carrying prepaid data SIM cards.
A great option for travelers who want to stay connected. Visitors can also exchange their money into Japanese Yen at the Moshi Moshi Box (currencies supported: USD, EUR, CNY, KRW, GBP, AUD, TWD). You can also print photos from your phone using a vending machine inside the shop.

The Moshi Moshi Box is also a popular place to take photos. Its large iconic international clock is filled with kawaii and Harajuku items that make it a perfect photo stop.

I would highly recommend checking out the Moshi Moshi Box when you visit Harajuku. With the help of the friendly staff and great services, the Moshi Moshi Box will help your most of your visit.
