DiGJAPAN is a free travel app, designed for foreign tourists in Japan, to provide sightseeing information as well as convenient maps which international tourists need to plan their trip. The contents are categorized into themes, from tourism attractions, historic landmarks to culinary experiences.
Perfect timing for cherry blossoms information
Ahead of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka’s peak season of cherry blossom ,information about which are currently covered on the app, a limited category for “Sakura” has been released to provide useful information for cherry blossom viewing. Go to the category for “Sakura”, and see the list of popular viewing spots in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Each list links to to the official website for the spot, where users can find more details about where and when is the best places and times. Along with the blossom information, the app navigates users to the directions and destinations via a digital map. DiGJAPAN is planning to extend services upgrading other convenient features and more seasonal information.
Sapporo area will be added in April, and more options for coupons
In addition to three major areas: Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka at the moment, the developer of the app, Shoubunsha, plans to add other regions throughout Japan to the list in the near future. First, they will add Sapporo area in Hokkaido prefecture, which is a popular city well-known for abundant nature and a wide range of local cuisine. DiGJAPAN plans to extend the service areas such as Yokohama, Fukuoka, Mt.Fuji and Frano by July this year, and will cover most areas for famous sightseeing spots throughout Japan within 2015.
From February, the app added a new feature of coupon savings and shopping details at electronics retail stores, especially popular among foreign tourists, department stores, restaurants and shops. The developer plans to build up the feature with more selections of coupons in number and quantity.
