Nakameguro in Tokyo is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot as countless cherry blossom trees are aligned along the Meguro River. There is an additional attraction on the shores of Meguro River this winter: an illumination event named “Ao no Dokutsu” which can be translated as “the blue grotto”. Let us tell you more about this romantic event.
Although the banks of Meguro River are dressed in pink in spring, the scenery will soon dramatically change into a beautiful blue landscape.
The event was inspired by the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) in Capri, Italy.
The blue illumination will reflect on the river, creating a world of fantasy.
As the event will last until Christmas, this will certainly be a new popular Christmas date destination. Don't miss it!
Nearest station: Nakameguro
Illumination area: Horaibashi Bridge to Asahibashi Bridge
Illumination period: From November 23rd (Sun) to December 25th (Thu)
