Cute shaped Omuraisu and Beautiful Parfaits – Café tint in Shimokitazawa
Do you like omuraisu (Omelette rice)? Do you like visually appealing food? Do you like cute desserts? Then I have the perfect place for you. Café Tint in Shimokitazawa offers omuraisu that will make all your Instagram followers jealous and parfaits so cute it is almost a waste to eat them.
Hot to Get There
The Café is only a short walk from Shimokitawa Station. Leave from the north-west exit, go straight and turn right on the second corner.
The entrance is a little hard to find, as you will have to enter a small side street. The side street is on the opposite side of the hair salon Fair Lady.
Address: (〒155-0031 Tokyo, Setagaya City, Kitazawa, 2 Chome−27−10)
What to Eat
The café has only one item on the menu for main dishes; omuraisu. But there are a lot of different variations. You can choose between different arrangements, e.g. omuraisu arranged to look like a rose, or omraisu arranged to look like a bunny. Also, they have a long list of sauces you can choose from.
For desserts, you can choose from a variety of very cute parfaits made with handmade macarons. Most are arranged to look like cute animals. During times like Christmas or Halloween, they also offer special limited versions with a seasonal flavor.
As all dishes are carefully made and arranged by hand by a small team, it can take a while until your order will be brought to your table. If you plan to visit café tint, do not be in a rush and do not come too hungry.
The café interior is designed with a lot of attention to detail and makes you slightly feel like you entered a magical forest. For some reason, there is a cat-shaped tea pot on every table.
The Reservation System
Café tint is quite popular among locals and tourists, but is quite small and only has a few seats. Usually there is a line of people waiting before the café opens. The doors open at 12:00 PM.
If you would like to get a seat immediately, I recommend being there at around 11:00 AM on weekends and at around 11:30 AM on weekdays. If you arrive later, you will probably have to write your name on the waiting list available by the entrance area.
If there are no empty seats, you can leave your name and telephone number on the list and the staff will give you a call once a seat is open. You are free to spend your waiting time exploring Shimokitazawa but do not stray too far as you are expected to be back at around 10 minutes after you got the call. The first time I went I wrote my name shortly after 12PM and received a phone call at around 4PM, so be patient!
If your travel schedule can accommodate it, Café tint is a very nice place to try unique omuraisu and enjoy a cute parfait as dessert and while you are waiting, you can explore some of the second-hand fashion stores in Shimokitazawa.
