Sanny Soedjatmiko Hartanto

On August 14th to August 16th 2015, Summer Comiket was held at Tokyo Big Sight, Odaiba. What is Comiket then? I can assure that not all of you know about this event, only people who love anime know about this event and want to go there. Unfortunately, I am not an anime maniac, but I know about this event because I heard some news about the massive and gorgeous line for only going to the entrance gate. My friend, who is an anime maniac go there to queue up from 4 am, although the visitors can enter the building from 10 am. Is that such an interesting story? So, let’s know more about the Comiket (Comic Market), a massive event in Japan.

What is Comic Market ?

Comic Market is the world’s largest Dojinshi fair. Dojinshi are self-published Japanese works, such as comics, music compositions, and the others. As items sold in this Comic Market are considered very rare, some items can be found in other shops or online market at prices up to 10 times the original price. For the famous artist’s item or the limited edition item, it can be sold more than 100 times the original prices from Comic Market. The first Comic Market was held in 1975. At that time, there are only about 32 circles and 600 visitors, but now you will be shocked to know how big and massive the event is! Comic Market is held twice a year, which are Summer Comic Market, and Winter Comic Market.

Besides of the Dojinshi fair, there will be a cosplay shown on the cosplay square. At that place you can see so many cosplayers, and you can also take photos of them. Please always ask permission if you want to take a photo of them, because some of them will be happy if you take their photos.

For the queuing, you will need something to entertain you while waiting, such as games, etc. You will also need a raincoat, cap, or umbrella against the rain and sun. For Summer Comic Market you will need towels, and cooling packs, while for Winter Comic Market you will need a warming packs. You need to bring lightweight mini foldable stools, which you can buy from 100 yen shops. Such a preparation just for going to this event! Interesting isn’t it?
