Japan is such an interesting and unique country, it's difficult to imagine it if you've never been. There are so many special and cool facts about Japan. Let's look at a few of them!

Do you know that Japan has more than 50,000 people who are over 100 years old? The oldest man in Japan is Jiroemon Kimura, who is 116 years old, and the oldest woman in Japan is Misao Okawa, who died at the age of 117 years old. Not only that, but in Japan, many people target 10,000 steps of walking for a day. They believe that it is really good for their health!

The Number of Children

Only in Japan, you will see more pets than you see children around the town! This is a serious problem in Japan : the number of children has fallen radically. As of April 1, there were an estimated 16.17 million children aged 15 and under, down 160,000 from a year earlier. No wonder that because of the low birth rate in Japan, adult diapers are sold more than baby diapers.

Earthquakes

Do you know that about 1500 earthquakes have occurred in Japan every year? Japan is located in area of high seismicity, near major tectonic plate boundaries and is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire. So, just don’t shock if suddenly you feel such a little shaking when you live in Japan.

Sudo Honke is a Japanese Sake brewer that has been around since 1141 to 2006. It is based in Obara, Japan. This company is run by the 55th generation of the Sudo family, isn’t it really cool? 55 generations actually managed this company!

In Japan you can go anywhere easily with train. No wonder that there are rush hours many times a day, every day! Luckily, Japanese trains are the world’s most punctual, their average delay is just 18 seconds! No worry for being late!

Because of the existence of vending machines in Japan, life becomes easier! Don’t be shocked to know that Japan has about 5.52 million of vending machines! Maybe you can find one vending machine for every one meter in Japan! So convenient, isn’t it!

Do you know about the most famous anime series, Pocket Monster, or well known as Pokemon? In Japan, there were about 685 kids who got hospitalized in 1997 after an intense Pokemon episode that caused dizziness, and vomiting. Insane!

Building with Highway

Gate Tower Building, which is located in Fukushima-ku, Osaka, Japan, is notable for the highway that passes through the building. At first, I didn't believe this fact, but yes it is true! The highway is through this building!
