"Sapporo TV Tower"
Sapporo television tower was established as radio tower of television broadcasting in1957.
Now,the old television tower provide NHK preliminary transmitting station conducting Japanese public broadcasting and transfer facility of FM radio.
As construction, silver television tower was so assimilated to snow color that local people can't see. In riding on airplane, We can't see the place where it is in snowstorm day. For these reason, the color changed to red.
As nowdays, there was no digital clock in construction time. The digital clock was established from all angle So that citizen in Sapporo city can see time when they want to.
As tower is at the center of Sapporo city, Odori park 1 - chome, It is not too much to say that the tower is landmark in sapporo.
The height of Television Tower is 147.2 meters.
One can take a normal elevator to the third floor. After that, one needs to take a special elevator up to the observation deck.
From the observation deck, one can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the entire city of Sapporo, starting with Odori Park. The park provides such a picturesque view from the observation deck that one could call it the symbol of Sapporo itself. There is also a souvenir shop and restaurant located at the observation deck, and one could take a brief respite while enjoying the marvelous view. Television Tower's mascot, "TV Dad," is a famous character which has many goods that one could only buy at the tower.
There are also many restaurants located below Television Tower. The underground shopping dis-trict "Aurora Town" is Sapporo's famous shopping avenue, and it is directly accessible from the subway line, making it a very convenient location.
