Fusion architecture at its best. The Old Public Hall was built with a Western-style exterior with Japanese arabesque designs on the columns of the porch. But the interiors are an amalgamation of genuine Japanese style with the majestic Western-style designs. Such harmonious Western and Japanese style architecture has made the Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward to be designated as a national important cultural property.

Why don’t you enjoy the ornate building and marvel the fusion architecture?
