The Sapporo Winter Festival is the biggest event in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture. Last year, over 2.4 million people visited. This time, the schedule will be carried out from February 5th 2015 to February 11th 2015. The snow and ice sculptures that are lit up are particularly splendid. I will introduce you to each of the 3 sites, which are Odori, Susukino and Tsu Dome.
Odori Park is about 1.5km in length and 100m in width, aligned with large works of impressive snow sculptures and various snow sculptures made by citizens.
You can see snow sculptures that are wrapped in dazzling light. The light up is a different way to enjoy the fantastic works.
In Susuki’s bustling entertainment district, ice sculptures are exhibited. At night, they are lit up.
Tsu Dome Site
People of any age can play in the snow at this site. Guests can enjoy activities such as slides, and there is also a resting area.
Sapporo Winter Festival Museum
In the museum you can learn the history of the Sapporo Winter Festival. There is also the Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory, not to be missed when you visit the winter festival.
