There is a museum for “Sapporo Beer”, one of the leading beer brands in Japan in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
You can get yourself acquainted with the history of beer brewing which started in 1905.
History of brewing, raw materials used for beer brewing and brewing processes are described by means of the models.
In addition, there is a great number of signage and posters used for advertisement are displayed.
Among all of the impressive and must-see items displayed here is a caldron which is used for the preparation process of beer.
This is the caldron actually used between 1965 to 2003 at the brewery displayed in the condition as is. I’m sure you will be overwhelmed by its size when you lay your eyes on it.
After the tour of the brewery, the long-waited tasting time starts.
With the tasting corner, you can, of course, enjoy your regular favorite labels, as well as “Kaitakushi Beer (Hokkaido Development Comissioner Beer)”, the replica of the brew at the time of the brewery’s foundation. (JPY200 per serving)
In addition, there is a restaurant inside the facilities for those who cannot get satisfaction alone from tasting to try the authentic mutton barbecue and beer to their hearts’ contents.
This is one of the most recommended tourist attraction as it is situated in an area only over 10-minute train/bus ride away.
